Introducing Expense Management

January 8, 2009

According to Wikipedia.org, expense management refer to the system and/or systems deployed by a business to process, pay, and audit employee-initiated expenses. These costs include, but are not limited to, expenses incurred for travel and entertainment. Expense management includes the policies and procedures which govern such spending, as well as the technologies and services utilized to process and analyze the data associated with it. These management of expenses can be done in two methods.

  1. License Software Implementation. This requires you to install and implement an expense software to your company’s server and allow your organization to access it. It requires you to set-up the intranet of the organization or extranet if you will need it to be accessed outside the company. This will be very costly because of the hardware and software cost plus the implementation cost.
  2. Expense Management Software from SaaS (Sofware as a Service) providers. This is a web-based application managed by a 3rd-party. The advantage against of this system to the latter method is it cuts of the hardware, software and installation cost. Providing a much cheaper way of managing your expense plus an anywhere-access management system that increases both the efficiency and productivity of your employee.
